Workshops Around the World

In the first half of 2025, our Artistic Directors Declan and Nick have had the opportunity to deliver workshops, masterclasses, and lectures around the world. From Cyprus to North Macedonia to Perth to our home in London, Cheek by Jowl has been lucky to work with directors, actors, and artists at every stage of their career.

In April, Declan and Nick travelled to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) to work with first-year students on scenes from Three Sisters. It was a delight working with these young artists, all of whom got a chance to watch our film ACTING in preparation for the workshop.

Elsewhere, in May we visited the Fresh Target Theatre Ensemble in Cyprus for three days of work with young and emerging directors. Linking up with CBJ alum Paris Erotokritou, Declan and Nick spoke about their film, their work, and the spaces in-between. CBJ is currently in Skopje, North Macedonia for a two-day workshop with young directors, ahead of the book launch of the Macedonian translation of The Actor and the Space.

Coming up this summer, Cheek by Jowl will travel to Perth to complete the final year of their residency at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Having worked with both acting and design students over the last three years, the residency will culminate with a public production of Antigone with the final-year students.
