With an appetite for the original, our work has been an inspiration for both audiences and the artists with whom we collaborate. Throughout the decades actors, directors, designers - and most importantly the public - have been moved by our ground-breaking productions.

We want to continue to do what we do best, at the highest level... always taking risks with our work and ensuring that, in whatever language, we can produce world-class theatre.

That work - and the unique process in which we make it - has been a rich training ground for emerging artists. Cheek by Jowl is responsible for nurturing some amazing emerging talent (Michael Sheen, Tom Hiddleston, Olivia Williams, Matthew McFadyen and Adrian Lester are amongst the names that started their careers with us). Our commitment to supporting talent and the next generation of artists is some thing we feel passionately about continuing.

Patron Scheme

Through a generous legacy gift, Cheek by Jowl has been given the opportunity to digitise and make accessible archive material from more than 30 years of groundbreaking productions.

A large part of this history is currently lying dormant, inaccessible to students and practitioners; those who will, in future decades, continue the legacy of Cheek by Jowl.

We are asking supporters of our work to become inaugural Patrons of Cheek by Jowl and through this, to contribute to making the company's legacy available to all. Your gift will ensure that the company's work is preserved, sustained and accessible to all through the creation of the archive and by enabling us to continue to add to it with more groundbreaking productions.

As well as being committed to increasing access to our work, we want to deepen our engagement with our most loyal supporters:

  • Cheek by Jowl Patrons will be invited to at least two specially programmed events per year with members of the company, including Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod.
  • Patrons will also receive priority booking, access to pre-show talks and recognition in our production programme.
