Tour details

'the heart is a treacherous place'

Subversive, surprising and ironic, Andromaque exposes our capacity for self deception with lacerating clarity. The Trojan War has ended in a blaze of shame and a massacre of horrific proportions. Now Hector's widow, Andromaque, faces an appalling dilemma.

Although now better known for their work in Russian, this is Cheek by Jowl's second French language production following Corneille's Le Cid, performed internationally and in London to general acclaim ten years ago. Andromaque was commissioned by Peter Brook for the Bouffes du Nord in Paris, and comes to the UK after an extensive European tour, and to the Barbican as part of a seven week UK tour. Tour details.

Cheek by Jowl continue as Artistic Associates at the Barbican. As part of bite09 Andromaque will be at the Silk Street Theatre, next door to the Barbican.

In French with English surtitles.
